So you were lucky enough to stumble upon the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are endless amenities in Big Canoe, GA that sets it apart from most other mountain communities in the Blue Ridge mountain area. Travelers have so many questions about Big Canoe before they book a rental home, so we are here to answer those for you.

1. Is Big Canoe open to the public?

Yes, you can enjoy all Big Canoe, GA has to offer, but you must be a registered guest of a property owner (you would be a registered guest if you rented a cabin). Now you are one step closer to your first amazing Big Canoe Resort vacation!

2. Can I use the amenities when I rent a home in Big Canoe, GA?

Yes, you can use the amenities, but there is a fee for each one which are listed below.

4. How close is the grocery store to Big Canoe?

The Foothills IGA Market in Marble Hill is about 3 miles away from the main gate in Big Canoe. They have everything you need to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner during your vacation. They also have a excellent wine selection in the back left corner of the store by the deli. They also usually have ribs and chicken ready as well. If you are wanting to start a fire in the fireplace in your rental, I would by starter logs here to make it easier. Also, if you are going when it could snow, make sure you have enough food because they close the roads if they are unsafe to drive on.

5. Is there anywhere to eat in Big Canoe?

Yes, Big Canoe has a few options to grab a bite to eat during your stay.

THE CLUBHOUSE – offering a delicious range of dining experiences for all occasions. Enjoy casual dining with a panoramic view of Lake Sconti and a backdrop of mountains. You an also sit on the Sunset Veranda to enjoy cocktails or a meal outdoors. Big Canoe Property Owners or their registered guests may call (706) 268-1253 to make a reservation which are highly recommended.

BLACK BEAR PUB – A casual bar restaurant with large screen TVs located in the Clubhouse.

DUFFERS -Duffer’s is located next to the cart barn to the right of The Clubhouse. Just steps from the course, it’s the perfect place to grab a quick bite or cold beverage. Open for breakfast and lunch. A walk up and order menu. For Duffer’s take-out orders, call: (706) 268-3273.

6. Can you rent boats in Big Canoe?

Yes, you can rent electric pontoon boats at the marina. You cannot bring your own boat with a motor into Big Canoe. Lake Petit is where Big Canoe gets its drinking water from, so no gas motors allowed.

7. When is the Swim Club Open in Big Canoe?

8. Will I see bears and deer in Big Canoe?

You might! There are tons of deer that like to venture out in the warmer months. You can usually see them when you are driving from your cabin to the amenities. There are endless hiking trails in Big Canoe and you are likely to see animals on your hike.

There are many black bears in Big Canoe. Sometimes you can spot them crossing the road or in your yard. Please do not leave any garbage or food outside, or in your car. The Big Canoe bears are very smart and will break into your car if you leave snacks inside sometimes. Please keep a safe distance when taking photos or any animals in Big Canoe.

9. Can I ride a bike or drive golf carts in Big Canoe?

The roads are a bit to windy to allow bikes or golf carts in Big Canoe. There are stationary bikes at the Wellness Center you can use with a day pass. Please keep the golf carts in the golf courses for your safety.

10. Is there is a good cabin for families in Big Canoe, GA?

Bear Paw Cabin is one of the larger properties to rent in Big Canoe, GA. Our 3,000sqft home sleeps up to 12 people and each bedroom has its own bathroom attached which is a rarity in Big Canoe. There is also two levels with two separate living spaces, great for families with kids.

Bear Paw Cabin is a Luxury 4 Bedroom All Suites cabin that sleeps up to 12.

Located 5 minutes from the clubhouse and lakes, this cabin is great for a family or larger groups. Bear Paw Cabin has a breathtaking view off the top back deck of Cox Mountain. 15 minutes from IGA Grocery Store.

We chose to make this house a rental because of the awesome features it has like a large kitchen, six bathrooms, two living areas and lots of parking. Great for multi family and group travel. Perfect for a great trip to Big Canoe, GA! We have a great game room downstairs with NBA Jam and Pac Man arcade games! We also have Disco Karaoke, ping pong and many other games.
