You also could rent a beautiful cabin home (such as Bear Paw Cabin) in Big Canoe and be registered guest of the property owner. Renting? the property owner would also add your information into the DwellingLive program for easy and seamless access into the gates.
When the property owner registers you and your guests for entry, they will add the dates you will be staying and your pass will only work during that time. Isn’t it exciting that Big Canoe is open to the public? It is such a magical place hidden in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I mean, where else is there a beach in the mountains!

You can obtain your passes through the North Gate or Main Gate. The Main Gate is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week. You can obtains entry passes any time of day or night at the Main Gate. The North Gate is only manned from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Your printed pass and transponders will allow entry and exit 24 hours a day at the North Gate. This is the gate across from the North Gate Station, where you can find Sourwood Restaurant, Feather + Stone Boutique and yummy ice cream at Polar Bear Ice Cream and Coffee Shop.
After 7:00 p.m all passes must be obtained from the Main Gate into Big Canoe. They post signs at the North Gate with instructions in case you accidently end up there after 7pm. It will take just a few minutes south on Steve Tate highway to get back to the main gate.
Do you need a place to stay inside Big Canoe?
Bear Paw Cabin is one of the larger properties to rent in Big Canoe, GA. Our 3,000sqft home sleeps up to 12 people and each bedroom has its own bathroom attached which is a rarity in Big Canoe. There is also two levels with two separate living spaces, great for families with kids.


Bear Paw Cabin in Big Canoe is located 5 minutes from the clubhouse and lakes and is great for larger groups. Bear Paw Cabin has a breathtaking view off the top back deck of Cox Mountain. 15 minutes from IGA Grocery Store.
Bear Paw Cabin is a Luxury 4 Bedroom All Suites cabin that sleeps up to 12.


We chose to make this house a rental because of the awesome features it has like a large kitchen, kitchenette, six bathrooms, two living areas and lots of parking. We also made the downstairs a game room with ping pong, disco karaoke and TWO Arcade games, NBA Jam and Pac Man! Great for multi family and group travel. Perfect for a great trip to Big Canoe, GA!
