Can you see Amicalola Falls without hiking?

Do you have a hard time hiking or going up steps? I do. So they day I visited Amicalola Falls I was surprised that I actually could enjoy the scenery even though it was hard for me to hike. We stay in Big Canoe at Bear Paw Cabin when we visit. It is about a twenty minute drive.

There are a couple trails that would be easier if you have a hard time climbing:

West Ridge Falls Access Trail – 0.3 miles in length. Rated easy to moderate. Wheelchair accessible with gentle slope. One of the best views of the falls and one of the easier trails. Trail surface is flat and coated with recycled tires.

Lodge Loop – 0.25 mile loop. Rated easy. Wheelchair accessible. Paved surface with educational displays. Trail is lighted for early morning and/or evening use.

For the best view you can park at the reflection pond not far from the entrance. Handicapped accessible and a relatively easy 1/4 a mile walk and you can see some of the falls. You have the option to keep climbing the stairs to the to the high level (yikes!) or walk back down to the main parking area at the entrance.

You can also drive one more level up and be at the very top, but the view of the falls is not as nice as the first turn off by the reflection pond.

You should also visit the lodge and the lodge restaurant up at the top. Walk into the lodge and go out to the porch. The rolling mountain view is absolutely amazing. This is also where you can zip-line.

The parking lot for Amicalola Falls has four designated, handicapped parking spots. One of these spots isn’t so wheelchair accessible as it is handicapped accessible. The other three parking spots are along a wall, which works great for vans with a ramp.
